Analysis of the Financial Social Responsibility in Savings and Credit Cooperatives of sectors 4 and 5 in Ambato
Abstract
Financial social responsibility involves the ethical and transparent management of financial resources, with a focus on social welfare, community inclusion and environmental sustainability. This study evaluates the awareness and participation of savings and credit cooperatives (SACCOs) of segments 4 and 5 in Ambato in relation to this responsibility. Using a quali-quantitative methodology based on literature review and data analysis, it was found that these COACs apply practices aligned with the principles of the Superintendencia de Economía Popular y Solidaria (SEPS), although they lack risk models to manage the associated risks. Despite progress, practices need to be strengthened through more robust policies and periodic evaluations to improve efficiency and transparency in resource management
