Freedom of expression in digital platforms: an analysis in the Ecuadorian context
Abstract
This study examines the relationship between freedom of expression in social networks and the need for a regulatory framework in Ecuador, given the relevance of digital platforms as spaces for the exchange of ideas. The research focuses on the urgency of reforming the Organic Law of Communication to include specific regulations that balance the protection of the right to free expression with the prevention of abuses. Using theoretical and empirical methods, the analysis reveals the lack of clear precepts in the current regulation, which has generated debates on its regulation. It highlights the importance of updating the law to ensure a responsible and respectful exercise of freedom of expression in the digital environment
