Comparison of unemployment insurance in Ecuador and its application in Latin American countries
Abstract
The research compares the legal framework of unemployment insurance in Ecuador with the regulations of Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil. The objective is to understand the particularities and approaches of each country in order to improve the Ecuadorian system. The qualitative study analyzed national and international regulations and reviewed relevant doctrine, using documentary methods and interviews with experts. The results reveal similarities in the basic structure of the systems, but also notable differences in coverage and generosity of benefits. The research concludes that, by adapting the understanding gained, improvements can be made to Ecuadorian regulations to achieve a more equitable and effective system of worker protection
