Abstract

The Jelén Tenka ecological park in Santo Domingo, Ecuador, emerged as a crucial green space in the reconciliation of fundamental rights. Hence, the construction and operation of the park was analyzed as a model of conciliation between the right to a healthy environment and the right to recreation, when evaluating the impact on the quality of life of the community and environmental conservation. Jointly, qualitative exploratory, analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive and historical-logical methods were applied in the research on the weighting of rights in the ecological park. The results showed an improvement in the physical and mental well-being of the community and in local biodiversity, confirming that the park represents an example of sustainable urban development.
