Comparative investigation of domestic violence in crimes of aggression and psychological violence in Ecuador: follow-up strategies.
Abstract
This article examines the most common crimes of violence against women and family members, specifically physical and psychological violence, as well as the follow-up mechanisms after sentencing. The research is significant because it addresses two types of violence that are most frequently reported in the country, comparing the characteristics of physical and psychological crime. Aspects such as definitions, scope, sanctions, necessary evidence, the investigation phase, and the possibility of adequate procedural responses were analyzed. A mixed approach and diverse methodologies were used, including bibliographic reviews and interviews with judges of the Pastaza Domestic Violence Unit, focusing on the protection of the victim and the rehabilitation of the aggressor.
