Abstract

Ecuador is implementing a new legal model through the 2008 Constitution, which gives the Constitutional Court a central role in the creation of constitutional precedents. This article studies the control of constitutionality in the country, highlighting th e importance of the Court in the defense of constitutional supremacy. An analytical descriptive methodology with a qualitative approach was used, through a review of legal sources and participant observation to understand the legal environment. The results indicate that the Court has intervened in emblematic cases, reaffirming that constitutional supremacy is a fundamental principle of law that ensures the primacy of the Constitution over other norms and laws.
