Abstract

The objective of this scientific work is aimed at revealing to the world that every time the crime rate increases, citizens and governments try to reintroduce the death penalty to solve the problems of crime. This article delves into the retentionist current that tries to justify the death penalty and the abolitionist current that opposes the death penalty because it ends the right to life. Crime is a common and inherent problem in all societies and crime can only be reduced if the minimum vital rights are guaranteed through social policies; therefore, a true system of crime prevention should be implemented.
