Body image and sociocultural violence in female students at the University of Health Sciences.
Abstract
This study addresses how beauty ideals promoted by the media and social expectations influence students' perception of their own bodies. The pressure to meet these aesthetic standards can lead to eating disorders, low self-esteem and anxiety, which negatively affects their physical and psychological well-being, but above all, the sociocultural violence that is normalized. From this perspective, it will be possible to raise awareness about these problems and promote psychological support strategies and mental health education in universities, thus empowering students to develop a positive body image and to confront sociocultural violence in an effective and inclusive way for men and women.
