Human dignity as an ethical and legal basis in the euthanasia procedure in Ecuador.
Abstract
The right to life, based on values such as dignity, freedom and personal integrity, is protected by national and international laws that guarantee its inviolability. However, exceptions such as self-defense, state of necessity or judicial decisions generate ethical and legal debates about its limits. In this context, euthanasia poses a controversial challenge, as it seeks to alleviate suffering in cases of terminal illness or unbearable pain, questioning the interpretation of human dignity. This documentary study analyzes the relationship between the inviolability of life and euthanasia, exploring its ethical and legal implications in a complex and deeply relevant debate.
