Education, diversity and democracy. Philosophical study based on Jacques Maritain and María Zambrano.
Abstract
This study is part of a research project in the context of teacher training and is framed in the philosophy of education, having democracy in the educational context as its main theme. Its objective is to understand the relationship between education, democracy and diversity from the philosophical perspectives of Jacques Maritain and María Zambrano. The interpretations indicate that both Maritain and Zambrano assume a personalist vision of democracy, where the notions of equality and diversity are fundamental, which complement each other as part of the ontological, moral and political complexity of humanity. It is concluded that formal education for democracy requires reflection and dialogue on the philosophical foundations that can support it, such as those presented in this study.
