Abstract

This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative study aimed at analyzing the use of the practical foundations of contemporary dance techniques and minimizing injuries in beginning high school students, thus developing their appreciation for the art and maintaining their health. A group of students enrolled in high school contemporary dance participated. A lesson plan was designed and a checklist validated by experts was applied. Relevant indicators included "Consider the location where the dance class is taught to be adequate," with 42.9% responding "Never." Furthermore, only 28.6% indicated that they "Always or Almost Always" go to the doctor if they have an injury. Therefore, this habit should be encouraged to prevent further damage, in addition to following the established technique format.
