Abstract

The inclusion and labor insertion of the trans population (transvestites, transgender, transsexuals, non-binary people, agender, gender fluid) is a global challenge with profound implications for the mental health of this population. Current governmental, political, social, and economic changes have favored an increase in acts and experiences of discrimination, job insecurity, violence, and exclusion from formal employment, which negatively affect the overall health of trans people. This article reviews the academic literature of the last twelve years on the labor inclusion of the trans population and its effects on mental health. Studies in academic databases were analyzed and the main factors that influence the mental health of this population are addressed.
