Acceptance and use of technology by older adults in the process of digital literacy.
Abstract
This study analyzes the acceptance and use of technology among older adults enrolled in digital literacy programs in Sonora and Baja California, Mexico. A quantitative and comparative approach was employed with 69 participants, using an instrument based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The findings indicate high levels of technology acceptance, highlighting learning expectations and positive attitudes; however, significant differences were identified between both communities in perceived effort, social influence, and facilitating conditions, with the highest differences being found in Sonora. It is concluded that it is important to design inclusive strategies adapted to local conditions to strengthen the digital integration of older adults.
