Artificial intelligence as a learning mediator: foundations, potential, and challenges.
Abstract
This article presents a theoretical review of the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a mediator of learning in contemporary educational contexts. Using a qualitative, theoretical-interpretative approach, focused on the critical analysis of academic literature, the study aims to conceptualize AI not only as a technical tool, but as an agent of cognitive, communicative, and evaluative mediation that influences the way knowledge is constructed. Drawing on sociocultural theoretical frameworks, the article analyzes how AI reconfigures pedagogical relationships and classroom dynamics. Finally, it proposes ethical and pedagogical principles for a critical, contextualized, and transformative integration of AI in education, as well as the need to train teachers in ethical and digital competencies.
