The B Corp Model as a Paradigm of Sustainability in the Mexican Hospitality Industry: The case of Hotel El Ganzo and its socio-environmental contribution.
Abstract
B Corporations are organizations with social, environmental and economic objectives. They are part of the “B movement”, driven by B Lab, which certifies social and environmental impact. There are almost 10,000 companies in 103 countries and more than 160 industries. In 2023, Mexico had 304 certified companies. Hotel El Ganzo, in San José del Cabo (Baja California Sur), was the first hotel in Mexico and the third in Latin America to obtain B Corp certification. The research objective was to evaluate the operating model of these hotels and the solutions they offer to social and environmental problems. The research was documentary, qualitative and descriptive-explanatory. It was concluded that the corporation obtained the distinction for its impact on the community, collaborators and the environment.
