Experiences of traditional medicine among older adults in a population in the State of Mexico.
Abstract
Older adults form an important part of society. Older adults have been considered bearers of invaluable knowledge and experience about daily life in cultural, traditional, spiritual, and healthrelated aspects, etc. This is because this knowledge has been passed down from generation to generation. The objective was to describe the experiences of traditional medicine in older adults. Ten older adults from a town in the State of Mexico participated. Among the experiences, we can observe the plants used are arnica, wormwood, peppermint and bougainvillea leaves, dollar leaf, rosemary, aloe vera, and toad herb. The most frequent illnesses treated are relieving stomach pain and the flu.
