Interculturality and indigenous education: rethinking questionnaires for school principals.
Abstract
Managing critical interculturality in indigenous primary schools in Mexico is key to equity and cultural recognition, with school leadership playing a fundamental role. This article evaluates the use of Likert scale questionnaires in quantitative research to measure intercultural sensitivity (respect, empathy, and trust). While Likert scales offer strengths such as data structuring, pattern identification, and accurate attitude assessment, there is a lack of research on intercultural sensitivity among Mexican school principals. This article proposes improving the design of the items by incorporating cultural elements and using analytical techniques to enhance their use in studies of perceptions and attitudes.
