School violence among high school adolescents.
Abstract
The objective of this study was to characterize violence in schools using a quantitative, cross-sectional, and descriptive approach. A total of 234 secondary school students were assessed using the School Violence Questionnaire (CUVE). According to the results in the section "Teacher violence toward students," 56.83% of participants fell into the "rarely" category. For the subscale "Verbal violence by students among peers and toward teachers," 36.75% fell into the "always" category, followed by "often" at 41.45%. The conclusion is that a high prevalence of classroom violence in the assessed modalities is evident, which motivates the application of institutional intervention strategies and mediation mechanisms.
