Positive Education in Mexico: Foundations for a humanist school that promotes well-being.
Abstract
This article proposes Positive Education as the foundation for a humanistic school that promotes well-being in Mexico. It traces the evolution from humanistic and emotional education to Seligman's Positive Psychology and connects it to the New Mexican School (NEM). It identifies the lack of a systematic implementation plan and the need to train teachers in socio-emotional skills and mental health. It recommends using the PERMA model and the VIA Strengths Inventory to diagnose and enhance teachers' strengths, fostering self-awareness, resilience, and a positive school climate; however, its impact will depend on transforming the proposal into empirical studies, detailed implementation plans, and longitudinal evaluations that address regional heterogeneity and the real-world conditions of the teaching profession.
