Abstract

This research documented the influence of a university induction course, using various character strengths as variables, and how these strengths change students' perspectives on basic emotions, based on understanding emotions and expressing them honestly. The study employed a mixed-methods, cross-sectional, exploratory, descriptive, and explanatory approach, utilizing a focus group to collect data independently. This allowed the research to demonstrate that the character strengths-based university induction course successfully modified the basic emotions of 57 students over the course of a week. The course shifted students from fear to the open expression of joy, resulting in a greater sense of well-being.
