Foreign direct investment in oil and gas extraction in Tabasco and Tamaulipas during 2018-2024.
Abstract
This article analyzes the evolution of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the oil and gas sector in Tabasco and Tamaulipas between 2018 and 2024, in order to assess its impact on regional economic development. The article identifies the main trends, differences, and factors affecting investment attraction, as well as the distribution of resources between the two states. The results show that, although Tabasco received larger amounts of FDI, the distribution was uneven. The study highlights that FDI is a key driver of regional growth, but to maximize its benefits, both states must strengthen security, improve public management, and diversify their economies, promoting long-term sustainable and inclusive development.
