Abstract

The literature surrounding academic self-concept is extensive; however, discrepancies have been identified between the empirical results of various studies and the theoretical frameworks of the construction. In this context, the present review aims to characterize research on academic self-concept among adolescent students in Latin America. To this end, the PRISMA-ScR protocol was followed, through which 29 studies were identified for analysis. The results indicate a predominance of quantitative approaches, with recurrent use of the *Cuestionario de Autoconcepto Forma 5*. Most studies examine the relationship between academic self-concept and personal and social variables—though the latter tend to focus specifically on the family. These findings highlight opportunities to expand research within the region.
