Abstract

This study addresses the use of research methods in New Institutionalism (NIS). The general objective is to analyze the most frequently employed research methods in NIS to propose a theoretical-practical model. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the Scopus database, resulting in a final sample of 37 articles. The results indicate a preference for qualitative and interpretive approaches, longitudinal case studies, and narrative analysis; furthermore, a trend toward algorithmic optimization is identified through mixed methods and formal text analysis (word embedding, topic modeling) for large-scale studies. Finally, a multilevel model (macro-micro) is proposed, which integrates interpretive richness with the explanatory power of computational methods.
