Scientific contributions of public and private institutions to the field of psychology in Mexico.

Abstract

This study analyzes the participation of public and private institutions in the scientific production and impact of Mexican psychology, as a way of understanding the contribution of these sectors. The research is based on a quantitative bibliometric method, whose main analytical resources are bibliographic references and metadata included in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. Universities, institutes, and research centers classified as part of the public sector are the main contributors to research in the field of psychology, accounting for 79.8% of publications compared to 20.2% from private institutions. This contribution comes from 60.7% of authors affiliated with public institutions and 39.3% affiliated with private institutions.
