Design and exploratory psychometric analysis of the Job Stress Inventory for university professors.
Abstract
The objective of this study was to design an instrument to measure occupational stress in university faculty and to conduct an exploratory psychometric analysis. To this end, an instrumental research design was employed. The instrument consisted of 27 items rated on a five-point Likert scale, organized into three dimensions: D1. Environmental factors, D2. Organizational factors, and D3. Individual factors. A total of 45 university faculty members participated to whom the scale was administered through an electronic questionnaire. The results provided evidence of adequate psychometric properties, including indications of content validity, reliability, and construct validity. Overall, the instrument represents a relevant contribution to the assessment of occupational stress in the university context.
