Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of AI technologies on the development of critical thinking skills in engineering students. A literature review is presented, identifying the opportunities AI offers to enhance cognitive competencies, as well as the risks associated with its indiscriminate use, such as technological dependence, decreased cognitive engagement, and even academic integrity issues. The analysis concludes that the reflective, ethical, and pedagogical integration of AI can strengthen critical thinking, provided it is accompanied by appropriate teaching strategies that foster the critical evaluation of the content generated by these tools.
