The role that never rests: an occupational analysis of burden in female family caregivers.
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze burden, performance, and job satisfaction among female family caregivers in the State of Mexico, identifying the challenges of the role and its impact on quality of life. Fifteen adult female caregivers participated, and the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale and the COPM (Caregiver Competence of the Family) were administered to assess performance and satisfaction. Performance averaged 3.64 (predominantly low level), and satisfaction averaged 5.50 (moderate level). Mild to moderate burden was identified, with some cases of severe burden. Perceived burden was negatively associated with performance. The study concludes that occupational and community interventions are needed to promote coping, balance, and support for caregivers.
