Evolution and recognition of the working conditions of teenage packers in southeastern Tamaulipas.
Abstract
This study analyzes the historical and legal evolution of teenage grocery baggers in southern Tamaulipas, who for more than seven decades have worked in supermarkets under informal arrangements, without legal recognition as employees. Through a documentary and chronological approach, historical, legal, and journalistic sources are examined, along with court rulings and official documents, to reconstruct the process that has led to their formal employment. The analysis focuses on southern Tamaulipas as a representative area of this transformation, opening new lines of research on adolescent labor in Mexico.
