Abstract

This article analyzes the experiences of women workers in the construction of the Olmeca Refinery in Dos Bocas, Tabasco, through a qualitative study. The research examines female participation in a traditionally masculinized sector, encouraged by the demand for a gender quota in federal projects. The case represented an opportunity for women, many of them single mothers, to access positions with better income, defying industry norms. However, the study seeks to show how various gender inequalities, such as the wage gap, remain despite the increase in their labor inclusion.
