Breastfeeding in higher education: normative analysis and proposal for a university lactation room.
Abstract
Breastfeeding is a fundamental practice for child health and development; however, its continuity is limited in work and educational settings due to a lack of adequate institutional conditions. This article aims to analyze and propose a model for the implementation and operation of a university lactation room, using the Technological Institute of Sonora as a case study. Through an analytical and applied approach, based on a review of regulations and concepts, the legal, organizational, and social foundations that support the creation of these spaces are identified. The results demonstrate that university lactation rooms constitute a viable strategy for promoting gender equity, maternal and child well-being, and university social responsibility.
