Urethral stenosis and kidney stones associated with chronic methamphetamine use.
Abstract
Urethral stricture and kidney stones are significant urological conditions due to their potential for urinary obstruction, renal impairment, and infectious complications. Chronic methamphetamine use emerges as an exacerbating factor through vascular, inflammatory, and metabolic mechanisms. We present the case of a 39-year-old man with a history of polysubstance use, undergoing addiction treatment, who developed severe urethral stricture and symptomatic kidney stones. Clinical, surgical, and nursing findings are analyzed, along with the perioperative experience. The coexistence of these conditions in chronic users presents a clinical challenge where withdrawal syndrome, pain, and psychosocial vulnerabilities influence the outcome. The role of nursing in holistic assessment, pain management, therapeutic education, and emotional support is highlighted.
