Indexed and Emerging Journals from Ibero-America in Web of Science.

Abstract

The publication patterns of Ibero-American journals within the Web of Science–Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) database are analyzed. This study is grounded in quantitative bibliometric methods and is complemented by a qualitative analysis of the editorial policies of these emerging journals, conducted through searches in Latindex. A total of 1,363 Ibero-American journals indexed in ESCI were analyzed. The Journal Citation Reports now includes 462 journals with an Impact Factor—primarily from Spain, Brazil, Mexico, and Chile. Among the emerging journals, those related to the social sciences, humanities, and medicine predominate. A group of 39 Ibero-American journals could potentially be included in the Journal Citation Reports in the near future.
