Methodology for developing speed in high school students who play Soccer as an extracurricular sport.
Abstract
This study presents an investigation into the functional development of speed capacity among high school soccer players in the 15–16 age category, affiliated with youth sports clubs within educational institutions in the city of Guayaquil. The methodology employed a mixed-methods approach featuring a concurrent nested design with a dominant model; the study involved 50 high school soccer players (aged 15–16) and 15 soccer coaches. During the diagnostic phase, the students' speed was assessed, revealing the presence of specific limitations. A methodology was subsequently constructed—and validated through a pre-experimental trial—to test the research hypothesis using the Lilliefors significance correction (p < 0.05). Significant changes were recorded across five variables (via the Wilcoxon test) and four variables (via the Student's t-test), with a p-value of 0.00 in both instances.
