Chevrón-Texaco case. Current problem of the Ecuadorian Amazon Region.
Abstract
The multinational Texaco from 1967 to 1992, when it mergedto Chevrón, develops oil extraction processes, disrespecting the current health legislation in Ecuador, and implementing technologies and procedures that negatively impact the environment and the health and lifestyles of the indigenous communities settled since ancestral times in the Ecuadorian Amazon. This study addresses the particularities of this process, for which it ventures into the severe socio-environmental impact on affected people and territories with the purpose of contributing to its dissemination and supporting the claim of the Ecuadorian nation.
