Abstract

This article describes the functioning of sociomorphic metaphor within the texts produced and delivered within the framework of presidential election campaign discourses in the United States of America and Russia. In the course of the conducted research, we have detected and analysed five main types of metaphor persistent in election campaign discourse. This paper represents the part of the said work, devoted to sociomorphic metaphor. Following the analysis of examples, we have defined five source domains of sociomorphic metaphor and analysed their functioning. The results obtained allow us characterize the status of sociomorphic metaphor for American and Russian election campaign discourses.
