Internationalization: opportunity, goal or chimera for a Higher Education Institution?
Abstract
A critical, proactive analysis with a long-term approach is presented, which seeks to apprehend the object of study from the systematization of diverse sources of information, the modeling of the internationalization process and the practical experience of its management. Internationalization is targeted as a trend of Higher Education, and its opportunities and challenges for disadvantaged institutions are identified in the face of socio-economic, scientific-technological asymmetries, between educational systems and institutions that exacerbate globalization. Its instrumentation is argued as a strategy, objective and process of the educational institution, and it is concluded that it requires a strategic management of the binomial reputation-quality for the intentional construction of the global projection of the institution, according to its tradition and expectation of results.
