Educate in Sovereignty: a current challenge. The path traced by Jean Bodin and Thomas Hobbes.
Abstract
Throughout history, we have tried to use education for various purposes. The authors, that areanalyzed in this work in a century convulsed by civil and religious wars, understood that it was essential to lay the foundations of the theory of the State, based on the figure of a monarch with absolute powers. While Bodin subordinates this power to thedivine and natural laws, Hobbes considers that nothing limits the sovereign. Both needed education to be able to carry out their mission and that it will be lasting in time.
