Theoretical Considerations about the Sociocultural Competence in the Foreign Languages Major.
Abstract
The article addresses the theoretical foundations for the development of sociocultural competence in the Foreign Languages career at the University of Las Tunas. This has the objective of determining the system of categories that allows focusing on sociocultural competence in language teaching as a fundamental edge of the foreign language teacher; For this, a study of the different related sciences was carried out, which led to assuming the precepts of Hymes (2001) in relation to the core of this research. In this sense, theoretical and empirical methods were used that made it possible to obtain results, highlighting the need to make a theoretical-practical contribution that makes up for the lack of disarticulation between the linguistic and professional components of this competence.
