Systematic evaluation of accessibility in free textbooks for students with disabilities in Mexico.
Abstract
In Mexico, the accessibility of free textbooks poses challenges for students with disabilities. This systematic study identifies barriers and suggests improvements aligned with inclusive design standards. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis method was applied to analyze accessibility, resulting in the identification of deficiencies and discrepancies with international practices. The most relevant conclusion is the need to adapt the content to accessible formats for different types of disabilities, develop guides for educators on inclusive practices, and include the community of people with disabilities in the design and evaluation process of the free textbooks.
