Fluid intelligence and sensory preferences in Mexican high school and university students
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to analyze the relationship between sensory learning preferences and fluid intelligence in Mexican high school and university students. Using a quantitative approach, a cross-sectional study was conducted with 91 high school students from the southeast and 98 university students from the central region of the country. The participants were 16.2 and 21.3 years old, respectively, and 39.1% were women. The VARK questionnaire and Raven's progressive matrices test were used. Auditory and kinesthetic preferences were predominant at both educational levels, with a significant proportion of students showing multimodal preferences. University students scored significantly higher in fluid intelligence. Associations were found between fluid intelligence and reading/writing in high school students, and visual modality in university students.
