Promoting meaningful learning through the use of social networks.
Abstract
This article analyzes the role of social networks as tools for meaningful learning in university environments. Although initially designed for social interaction, their educational use has grown, standing out as valuable resources in teaching-learning. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, 100 university students were surveyed about their use of social networks, their perceived usefulness in learning, and the impact on their academic performance. Eighty-five percent of respondents considered these platforms useful or very useful. It is concluded that, when properly employed, networks such as Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp facilitate access to educational resources, foster interaction and collaboration, and significantly enhance learning.
