Effect of Information and Communication Technologies on the academic engagement of university students.
Abstract
The study examined the impact of ICT on the academic motivation of university students through a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Interviews were conducted with 90 students from different faculties to explore how ICTs influence their motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic. The results show that ICT, such as e-learning platforms, technological applications and academic social networks, enhance intrinsic motivation by facilitating access to educational resources and fostering communication. In addition, they reinforce extrinsic motivation by providing incentives such as instant grades and feedback. The study concludes that ICT is an effective tool for increasing motivation when used strategically, in combination with traditional methods.
