Evaluation of the psychometric properties of a questionnaire on university student retention through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA).
Abstract
A study is presented at a Mexican university to determine the psychometric properties of a questionnaire on student retention, using exploratory factor analysis with a descriptive and non-experimental quantitative approach. 141 students from different majors participated. Validation by experts was performed and presented a reliability of 0.95 according to Cronbach's alpha. The Bartlett sphericity results were significant with a value of 0, with a value of zero, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test was 0.835, and most of the items had values higher than 0.50 in the anti-image correlation coefficient. The total variance explained was 59.093% with 10 components, and the rotated component matrix identified 11 components and 52 items, each with a proposed name.
