Evolution and emerging trends in Triple Helix and Entrepreneurship Research: a global perspective

Abstract

This study examines the evolution and current trends in Triple Helix and Entrepreneurship research using advanced bibliometric techniques, analyzing 314 papers published between 2003 and 2023. The study reveals significant growth in scientific output with the United States, the United Kingdom, and China leading in collaboration and citations. The results show an evolution from fundamental concepts to emerging themes such as entrepreneurial ecosystems and open innovation. Key thematic clusters are identified, including innovation and systems, knowledge and university, and entrepreneurship and economic development. The study highlights the interdisciplinary nature of the field and its growing global importance, offering directions for future research at the intersection of the Triple Helix and entrepreneurship
