Tequila Culture in Mexico: origin, economic importance, tourist impact and World Heritage Site
Abstract
Tequila is an iconic Mexican beverage recognized worldwide and widely accepted worldwide. It is produced in the region of Tequila in Jalisco (Mexico) and currently has its denomination of origin. This article discusses the origin of this beverage, its legends, artisanal and industrial production process, the impact of tourism on the region, and how its cultivation fields have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This study concludes that tequila is a contribution of Mexico to the world, which has influenced its traditions, is part of its culture and is the livelihood of several families.
