Abstract
The importance of timelines for improving the understanding of historical time is supported as a didactic tool in the teaching-learning process of History. The use of this tool allows to promote motivation for learning history; timelines are highlighted as a pedagogical tool because it is expected that they will generate new inspiration and contribute to learning history. The study is part of a pedagogical research where instruments were applied to investigate the criteria and knowledge of students on the subject.
