Empowering lives: training in professional sexuality skills for people with disabilities.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine the behavior of the formation of professional competencies, for the approach to sexuality in people with physical disabilities, by the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy of the Autonomous University of the State of Guerrero. The research was cross-sectional and descriptive. The sample consisted of 36 students of the 4th semester of the Bachelor's Degree. A survey was applied, resulting that the family sexual culture and the personal and sociocultural barriers influence the exercise of the profession; it is considered important the integral sexual rehabilitation of people with disabilities and it is concluded that students and teachers identify their role as sexual rehabilitators recommending the opening of the department of integral sexual rehabilitation.
