Challenges of continuing education at the Teachers' Career System Unit (USICAMM) in Chihuahua.
Abstract
This paper analyzes the challenges of continuing education recognized by USICAMM for primary school teachers in Chihuahua. Based on 350 teacher surveys, findings indicate that 65% believe training programs strengthen their pedagogical competencies, while 45% consider the content to be generic and poorly adapted. The main barriers include connectivity issues (58%), workload overload (40%), and lack of follow-up or pedagogical support (55%). Through an analysis of USICAMM reports, 15 semi-structured interviews with teachers, and a focus group with nine teachers from rural schools and 11 from urban schools, the study highlights the need for contextualized training in Indigenous communities, Mennonite settlements, and the Le Barón community. It recommends making training programs more flexible, integrating pedagogical support, and recognizing cultural and linguistic diversity.
