Assessment of Professional Ethics Education in Nutrition Bachelor's Students at a Private University in Southeastern Mexico.
Abstract
This study assessed the teaching and practice of professional ethics in a Nutrition program at a private university using a qualitative action-research approach, including observation, content analysis, and interviews with faculty and students. The analysis showed a lack of ethics-related topics in key courses. Although faculty acknowledge its importance, ethics is not actively promoted in the classroom. Students demonstrated limited knowledge of professional ethics, mainly due to insufficient academic training. The findings highlight the need to incorporate ethics into the curriculum and provide ongoing training for faculty to enhance ethical competencies in future nutritionists. Strengthening ethical education is essential to improve professional performance and ensure better quality of care in the health sector.
