Social representations and pro-environmental actions of primary school students in the face of the ecological crisis.
Abstract
This research seeks to identify the social representations generated by the environmental crisis and to analyze the pro-environmental actions of students of the “5 de febrero” Primary School. To this end, an open-ended questionnaire and a Likert scale were applied to 22 students. A significant contrast was found in the representations of polluted environments compared to preserved ones. Likewise, three types of pro-environmental actions were categorized according to their frequency of execution: low, medium, and high incidence, which are important for reducing the social metabolism. It is concluded that high-incidence actions result from the internalization of the curriculum, while medium and low frequency actions show the lack of infrastructure and technical-scientific knowledge.
